Sleep induced insomnia

Something stirs. It may be alive.
It may be waiting to bite my neck.
Will it pounce on me tonight?
Will it wait another day?
I’m asleep, and I see it.
It keeps me up all night.

There’s nothing in my wakefulness,
It’s only in my sleep.
So I can’t fall asleep.
My sleep keeps me awake.

Am confused in my dream like clarity.
Give me something to think about,
While I wait for this sleep induced insomnia
To take over my frayed nerves
And the creature can finally come
Bite my neck in the light of day
In my wakefulness, in my twisted reality.
